Supply Project Manager

The Supply Planning department is accountable for the site based elements of global supply chains. This includes all aspects of site planning, inventory management, warehousing and distribution. This requires close collaboration with global planning, supply site network and site process execution teams to ensure site capabilities are accurately understood, supply plans are well developed and able to be implemented.

Role as a Supply Project Manager at Newark

The role of the Supply Project Manager is to lead multiple site-level Supply projects, according to GSC&S or PMF processes, to the agreed timelines and costs.

Responsibilities include leading and directing highly cross-functional teams in the implementation of projects, programs and initiatives within a challenging/ changing business environment. It is key for the role holder to work autonomously in an ambiguous environment, seeking to understand business problems, limitations and reasons behind business decisions.

This role is the point of contact for all internal partners regarding project activities and will be expected to represent the Supply department both internally and externally when appropriate.

The role holder shows enterprise leadership when integrating in global teams like the GSC&S to deliver benefits and value across functions and the site.

Job Responsibilities (to include key result areas, specific accountabilities, tasks, etc.)

• Lead, direct and run Supply Chain projects in support of business and operations strategies. This includes planning excellence, streamlining exports, inventory optimization, lead time performance, business process management, automation and talent strategy.
• Align with and apply the AstraZeneca Project Management Framework (PMF), including execution of all project phases (support, initiate, plan, complete and close), serve as champion relative to AZ PMF, provide project management training as needed and use standard project management tools
• Manage project resources and assign individual responsibilities
• Develop and manage project plans, budgets, schedules and changes to project scope
• Identify and control project risks
• Create and execute project stakeholder management and communications plans
• Utilize lean concepts and tools within the overall management of projects. Educate stakeholders on lean approach and embed lean concepts within solutions on projects.
• Lead issues and negotiate conflicts within and across projects
• Share best practices with other Project Managers
• Suggest and develop opportunities for efficiency and effectiveness improvements to Site leaders, Supply Chain leaders and Operations project teams
• Lead the development of cases for potential Operations projects
• Interface to and align with Global Operations on strategy development and project execution as required

Accountabilities specific for Supply Project Manager

• Guide cross-functional teams to ensure strategic alignment and execution of the project deliverables, on schedule, within budget, to the required standards.
• Coordinate the activities and decision-making processes of a diverse group of multi-functional site experts. Understand complex technical issues and effectively communicates their impact to a wide audience within the organization.
• Provide technical expertise and leadership to ensure efficient planning and delivery of business objectives
• Make sound judgments to drive both tactical and strategic improvements
• Continuously seek opportunities for process improvement and implement strategies to enhance supply planning practices
• Ensure that there will be smooth handover into business as usual and that there are minimum negative effects on core business activities as a consequence of project execution

As Supply Project Manager, these are the essential requirements:

Bachelor’s degree required in engineering, pharmacy, chemistry, business or related field.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in and demonstrated knowledge in various aspects of the pharmaceutical industry usually including experience in at least two of the following areas:
  Manufacturing management, supply chain management, logistics and distribution, finance or commercial.
