Research Specialist AJob Description Summary
The Lengner Lab in the Department of Biomedical Sciences is seeking a Research Specialist who will manage the lab’s genetically modified mouse colony and provide support for the lab’s projects involving molecular biology and cell culture techniques.Job Description
Responsibilities of the Research Specialist will include maintenance and genotyping of our transgenic mouse colony involving tail/ear clipping, DNA extraction, and PCR analysis, as well as careful maintenance of an online electronic database of the mice currently present in the colony, research protocol implementation, design, and troubleshooting cell culture and molecular biology experiments, general lab management and lab organization.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree with 0-1 year of related experience in research and clinical study methodologies. The ideal candidate will have a BS in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related fields. Previous experience in mouse handling is required, and experience in standard methods including tissue culture, flow cytometry, qRT-PCR, immunostaining, and microscopy are strongly preferred. Skills in mouse genetics, bioinformatics, and data analysis can be acquired as needed. Must have strong work ethic, communication & organization skills, and a willingness to learn new methods & techniques as the projects evolves. The successful candidate will be internally motivated and work well with others in a team environment.
This position is contingent upon grant funding.
