Position Summary:

KBR, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Senior Industrial Engineer / Operations Research Analyst to support a high-impact Modeling and Simulation (M&S) project focused on weapon system manufacturing and repair supply chains. This position plays a critical role in developing, implementing, and sustaining advanced models and analytical tools that enable data-driven decision-making across production planning, sustainment, capacity analysis, and contract evaluation throughout the program lifecycle.  This role involves close collaboration with engineering teams, supply chain professionals, program managers, and government stakeholders to help design, develop, verify, interpret, translate, and analyze actionable models, simulations, and synthesized decision-ready products (reports, briefings, etc.) based upon data collected through actual manufacturing and supply chain processes, timelines, and operational requirements. This position will be primarily executed from inside government on-site facilities at Eglin AFB or hybrid remote/on-site facilities in Orlando, FL.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, verify, interpret, translate, and analyze advanced modeling and simulation models to represent weapon system production, assembly, testing, sustainment, and repair operations at the component, subsystem, and system levels.
  • Build and maintain end-to-end digital models of the weapon system manufacturing and repair supply chain, incorporating suppliers, subcontractors, logistics nodes, and depot operations.
  • Conduct system performance analysis to evaluate production throughput, bottlenecks, facility utilization, material flow, and process efficiencies.
  • Analyze short-term and long-term production scalability, including facilitization, automation, labor requirements, and tooling capacity.
  • Evaluate and forecast impacts of supply chain disruptions, parts obsolescence (DMSMS), escape scenarios, and contractor performance issues on delivery schedules.
  • Perform scenario-based analysis (e.g., peak demand, reduced staffing, surge production, quality control flags) to guide strategic decision-making.
  • Develop simulation-based dashboards and visualization tools for real-time monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs), predictive trends, and risks.
  • Support cost-benefit and trade space analyses related to supplier selection, production alternatives, second sourcing, and economic order quantities.
  • Generate technical documentation, user manuals, and model configuration materials to support sustainment, reuse, and continuous improvement.
  • Train and mentor government and contractor personnel in model use, interpretation of results, and adaptation to changing inputs or assumptions.
  • Collaborate with data engineers and software developers to ensure proper data integration, model automation, and alignment with enterprise digital environments.
  • Participate in Agile development activities, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and capability demos to align delivery with user priorities.
  • Contribute to acquisition decision-making processes, including cost estimation, proposal evaluation, and Government Furnished Data (GFD) development.

Work Environment:

  • Location: Onsite/hybrid
  • Travel Requirements: Minimal
  • Working Hours: Standard

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical field plus 15 or more years of relevant experience -or-
  • Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical field plus 12 or more years relevant experience -or-
  • Doctorate in Industrial Engineering, Opera
