Nemours Children’s Health, Milford is hiring a Per Diem, Speech Therapist to work in Milford, Delaware.
This is a great opportunity to grow your career and join a dynamic team in our new multi-disciplinary clinic shared with Nemours Specialty and Primary Care. We provide evaluation and treatment for patients with a wide variety of diagnoses including speech and language disorders as well as feeding and swallowing disorders, and ranging in age from birth to 18. We are also an early intervention partner with Birth to Three program, providing clinic-based services.
Provides patient examination, evaluation, intervention, documentation, parent/caregiver education, communication and coordination of care with medical/clinical staff and outside agencies as appropriate within the guidelines designated by the department and the Delaware Valley policies and procedures. Actively participates in departmental education activities in order to expand knowledge of patient populations and evidence-based practice.
Maintains core competencies and any additional competencies determined to be necessary by the management team to ensure patient care needs are met.
Essential Functions
- Demonstrates proficiency in the care of all ages: pediatrics, adolescents, and adults.
- Able to provide speech therapy services to a variety of patient types with recognition of his/her own limitations while seeking appropriate mentorship as needed.
- Completes timely documentation as required by departmental policy #7980.3.3, Joint Commission, and CARF standards.
- Attends meetings related to patient treatment and contributes to discussion as an interdisciplinary team member.
- Consults with other services, families, and outside agencies to recommend durable medical equipment, home/school modifications and transitional therapy program prior to discharge from therapy.
- Maintains knowledge of and familiarity with insurance referral/authorization process and documentation requirements related to therapy services.
Job Requirements
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or its equivalent from an ASHA-accredited university required.
- Minimum of 3-6 months experience required. New graduates will be considered based on educational experiences.
- State of Delaware Speech Therapist License required upon hire. Pennsylvania clearances are required upon hire for those with a Pennsylvania license.
- ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP), or Clinical fellowship Year (CFY) in-process with goal of achieving CCC-SLP within 10-12 months required.
- American Heart Association BLS Certification Basic Life Support required within 6 months of date of hire and must be maintained for duration of employment.
- Member of professional specialty organizations (ASHA) preferred.
