The Payroll and Benefits Coordinator is responsible for managing and processing employee payroll, administering benefits programs, and ensuring compliance with company policies and legal regulations. This role plays a key part in supporting employees by ensuring accurate compensation and access to benefits. Responsibilities include processing both union and non-union payroll across weekly and biweekly cycles, as well as interpreting and applying collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) to ensure accurate and compliant payroll administration.
Responsible for handling incoming departmental calls, assist and greet visitors via the intercom system.
Process weekly and biweekly payroll cycles accurately and on schedule
Maintain payroll records, including wages, deductions, bonuses, and taxes
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations
Review and reconcile payroll data to identify and resolve discrepancies
Coordinate payroll changes such as new hires, terminations, and pay adjustments
Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely manner
Administer employee benefits programs including health, dental, vision, retirement, and leave plans
Assist employees with benefits enrollment, changes, and claims issues
Maintain and update benefits records in HR systems
Administer and support annual open enrollment.
Act as liaison between employees, reconciles billing with benefit providers.
Carries out additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Associate or bachelor’s degree in human resources, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
Experience processing payroll, including weekly and biweekly cycles.
Experience managing union payroll in compliance with collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) is a plus, including handling union dues, benefits, and contract-specific pay rules.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Knowledge of payroll systems and HRIS platforms. Experience with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex) experience with Paycom is a plus.
Familiarity with tax laws and benefits regulations
Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
Understanding benefits compliance (e.g., ACA, ADA, COBRA, and FMLA).
