Decommissioning Engineer

Job Overview:
We are searching for a Decommissioning Engineer to support APTIM's nuclear decommissioning (D&D) projects in Livermoore, California. The Decommissioning Engineer will be a part of a multi-disciplined team supporting our projects and will be focused on engineering support activities.

Engineers will apply critical thinking skills to initial planning, procurement support, plan development, design, construction and commissioning phases of projects. APTIM expects our engineers to be creative problem solvers and actively look for the best way to support our varied Government and commercial clients. Engineers may work on multiple projects simultaneously and perform other duties as required. This position immediately offers opportunities to grow professionally while solving problems in the engineering and construction industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work activities include collection and interpretation of engineering data, development of project design basis, development of specifications, and performance of detailed engineering.
- Ensures conformance to applicable engineering codes and standards as well as company policies and procedures.
- Development of conceptual design, calculations, system studies and design drawings.
- Other duties include collection and interpretation of engineering data, compiling data for project reports, collecting and compiling field data as required, assisting in proposal efforts as directed, documenting technical data for management review, assisting with preparation of labor/material estimates and design packages for clients, and providing other entry level duties as assigned.
- Being aware of costs and schedule related to own work.
- Organizing own work to meet deadlines set by others.
- Communicating information, asking questions and checking for understanding.
- Contributing to a team environment
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in nuclear, electrical, civil, or mechanical engineering, 5-10 years related experience
- Related work experience is a plus
- Basic knowledge of theories, practices and procedures in engineering
- Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and technical engineering and design software.
- Excellent verbal and writing skills
- Willing to travel as necessary
- Must be a US Citizen (no Dual Citizenship) and be able to pass a background check to gain access to government facilities. For more information please see DOE Order 472.2.
- FE and EIT candidates preferred.
- Ability to work independently and in a diverse team setting
- Willingness to work across Engineering disciplines
