GENERAL SUMMARY

The CPC Registered Nurse assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with facility and departmental policies and in accordance with standards of professional nursing practice. This position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others who are under his/her direction.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/COMPETENCIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Reviews patient history and physical with patient/family, and assures completion within appropriate time frame.
• Formulates a radiation oncology plan of care, including the discharge plan, utilizing assessment data, patient, and family and health team input.
• Obtains pre-certification for treatments as needed.
• Reviews and revises the radiation oncology plan of care to reflect changing patient needs based on evaluation of the patient's status.
• Provides care based on physician orders and the radiation oncology plan of care, in compliance with policies and procedures, standards of care and regulatory agency requirement.
• Evaluates patient progress towards goals and expected outcomes in collaboration with other health care team member.
• Documents assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the patient record.
• Ensures that all medical records are accurate and complete within the system for all patients.
• Attention to detail to notice changes in patients.
• Adheres and supports compliance and accreditation efforts as assigned including, but not limited to OSHA, HIPAA & CMS guidelines for Parts C & D on General Compliance and Fraud, Waste & Abuse.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Employees shall adhere to high standards of ethical conduct and will comply with and assist in complying with all applicable laws and regulations. This will include and not be limited to following the Solaris Health Code of Conduct and all Solaris Health and Affiliated Practice policies and procedures; maintaining the confidentiality of patients' protected health information in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA); immediately reporting any suspected concerns and/or violations to a supervisor and/or the Compliance Department; and the timely completion the Annual Compliance Training.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSURES OR REGISTRY REQUIREMENTS

• RN licensure and certification as required by state.
• AOCN certification preferred.
• BLS certification required, ACLS preferred.

• Skill in using computer programs and applications including Microsoft Office.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program, BSN preferred.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Clinical experience in oncology preferred.
