The Financial Institutions (FI) Trade Finance Department is part of Transaction Services (TS) which is a main business line of Wholesale Banking (WB), offering a suite of products and services to corporate and institutional clients across our global network.
As a (FI) Trade Finance Services Account Manager you are working closely with Seniors in our team, where the purpose is to serve our internal and external clients. We are providing risk mitigation and financing of international trade, which includes the offering to finance the corporate and ( non-bank) FI clients, based on the underlying trade flows. Our counterparties are mainly foreign banks and ultimate clients are exporting and importing corporate and TCF clients of ING Bank and the banks themselves. Market developments and renewed strategy within FI require more focus on Non-Bank Financial Institutions (NBFI) ( i.e. Insurance entities, Payment providers, Asset managers, among others), clients going forward.
The Account Managers provide assistance to the committed senior salesperson in managing trade finance relationship with the banks and sales with both FIs and NBFI clients within a designated region or cluster of countries spanning the EMEA/Americas regions. Additionally, the Account Managers are responsible for the start to end lifetime of the trade finance transactions, advising stakeholders on pricing, structures and processes. As a result of further digitization and automation initiatives efficiencies will be gained in our internal procedures. Finally, we expect Account Managers to work on projects to improve the client experience, tap potential and improve the internal organization.
Key responsibilities
As a member of the TFS Team you;
- Support the regions in their sales efforts and responsibilities to increase profitability within the ING risk framework and appetite, relationship management and pricing/execution of transactions
- Advise clients and ING offices (domestic and abroad) about pricing, risk appetite and structures related to trade finance
- Cooperate with Portfolio Management Desk (PMD) to mitigate risk via risk distribution and credit risk insurance
- Assess transactions, compliance, due diligence checks, write credit rationale and approving or submitting to risk management for approval when required
- Liaise with support functions (Legal/Operations/KYC CoE) to optimize Straight Through Process
- Identify TS and FI cross sell opportunities beyond Trade Finance
- Actively participate in projects to improve the client experience, tap potential and improve the internal organization
- Active contribution in increasing the number of sustainable transactions within Trade Finance
Key competences/experience:
- Ambitious, entrepreneurial/commercial, professional with Master Degree or equivalent
- Ability to work successfully with various Originators across multiple countries taking into account different habits, beliefs, languages and time-zones
- Willing to learn every day in a continuous changing global environment with high expectations of clients
- Project management/ organizational, analytical and commercial skills
- Good communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, strong team player
- Relationship management skills (in- and external clients)
Strong interest in credit approval processes e.g. credit applications, risk management (financial and non-financial) and relevant legal knowledge is a plus
- Familiarity with trade finance products such as letters of credit, guarantees and trade loans is a plus.
- Fluent in English both verbally and written; other foreign language skills are a plus
- > 3 years working experience within Trade Finance and/or Financial Institutions is a plus but not a must
