The Reinsurance Department provides accounting and treaty placement services for the company. The Reinsurance department ensures that Great American complies with all of the accounting requirements under its various reinsurance agreements. It also ensures that all internal and external financial statements fairly and accurately reflect all such reinsurance transactions in accordance with statutory accounting principles. In addition, the department is responsible for purchasing the Corporate Catastrophe Covers and for performing portfolio-level catastrophe modeling.
Our Resinsurance Department is hiring for a Business Analyst / Reinsurance Analyst in our corporate headquarters in downtown Cincinnati, Ohio. This position will be on a hybrid schedule.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
Perform monthly and quarterly financial analyses.
Provide annual statement support as needed.
Prepare financial reports.
Analyze and interpret reinsurance contract financial results.
Identifying and implement solutions to improve efficiency of existing processes.
Combine business knowledge with technology skills to create new or improved business processes.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide support for operational initiatives.
Communicate information clearly and effectively.
Train team members on technology tools.
Willingness to learn new technologies.
Support reinsurance data needs from business units, reinsurers, states and rating agencies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics or related discipline.
Generally, 4 or more years of related experience. Knowledge of insurance and reinsurance financials preferred.
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel required.
Knowledge of relational database tools preferred (i.e. SQL, Microsoft Access, etc.).
Knowledge of Cognos, Workday and Snowflake preferred.
Ability to learn, understand and work with complex financial and data reports.
Strong analytical skills and technical skills, detail oriented, able to work independently.
Demonstrated ability to establish priorities, organize, and plan work accordingly.
Strong communication skills; ability to comfortably communicate with all levels of internal and external clients.
