POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the Operations and Management Consultant Manager, this position is responsible for processing requests for criminal history information from various customers and agencies, as well as reviewing requests for accuracy and completeness. This position also helps to answer the section’s customer service telephone line and processes correspondence. This position must meet and maintain NCIC/FCIC certification, as required, and is responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of data housed within the department databases.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific duties include:
- Reviewing and processing requests for criminal history information from the general public, statutorily mandated entities, and those authorized by state and federal law;
- Monitoring multiple databases and processes incoming requests;
- Evaluating criminal history record check requests for matches with existing criminal history records maintained in the Computerized Criminal History (CCH) files;
- Evaluating criminal history record check requests for matches with existing criminal history records maintained in the FCIC/NCIC hot files;
- Processing requests and making appropriate decisions based on CHS’ Standard Operating Procedures and other internal resources;
- Evaluating incoming requests and identifies deficiencies in record checks;
- Monitoring the system and prints criminal history information for secondary review and certification, as required.
- Performing other related duties where appropriate and/or as requested by division leadership.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of general office procedures and practices;
- Ability to meet and maintain FCIC/NCIC certification;
- Ability to record, collect, evaluate, and analyze data;
- Ability organize files, records, and/or other materials;
- Ability to sort data alphabetically, numerically, and categorically;
- Ability to operate personal computers and other office equipment;
- Ability to read and interpret law enforcement data;
- Ability to follow directions;
- Ability to review data for accuracy and completeness;
- Ability to read and interpret state statutes;
- Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments;
- Ability to communicate effectively; and
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with others.
