About the role

Overview

We are seeking an Outpatient Registration Scheduler, internally referred to as Centralized Scheduler or Admitting Scheduler, in our Admitting/Outpatient Registration Department. As an Outpatient Registration Scheduler in Admitting/Registration, you routinely schedule tests/procedures for cases for all patients where services occur as a scheduled event.

 

Shift’s Available:  Days 

Employment Type: Full Time

Hours: 8-hour shift, 9:00am – 5:30pm

Location: Providence Medical Center (PMC), Kansas City, KS

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to): 

  • Schedules clinic visits, surgery, G.I. Lab, Cardiac Cath Lab, Radiology, Respiratory Therapy, Nutritional Services, Infusion units or any other location where scheduling of a test or procedure may occur
  • Coordinates with departments as necessary
  • Ensures that accurate, complete and thorough patient demographics are entered into the computer system, including insurance and authorizations, if applicable, notifies departments as necessary of various services that may require, equipment, instrumentation and supplies from outside vendors for scheduled surgeries
  • Prepares and distributes the surgical schedule and on call list to appropriate departments or personnel

Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:  

  • High school graduate or GED Equivalent Required (effective 4/1/14 for all new hires)
  • Knowledge of multiple insurance authorization requirements
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize needs to meet required timelines
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Customer service experience
  • Strong clerical and computer skills

Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus: 

  • 1-2 years previous experience in a hospital environment
