Department Secretary Medical Staff Part Time Days

Desert Regional Medical Center is a 385-bed acute-care hospital classified as a stroke receiving center and Level I Trauma Center with an innovative, patient centered and evidence-based Rehabilitation Services Department.  Our compassionate team provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services, including acute care rehabilitation, joint replacement & spinal surgery, neurosurgery, ICU, Telemetry, step-down care, skilled nursing, as well as outpatient therapy, hand and lymphedema clinics. 

GENERAL DUTIES

The Medical Staff Department Secretary reports to the Director of Medical Staff Services, and provides support to the Director and the Medical Staff.

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC DUTIES

• Answer incoming phone calls, distribute incoming mail, process physician verifications hospital affiliations, maintain accurate filing system, maintain office supplies – ordering/receiving, and assist medical staff manager/director. Distribute monthly meeting notices and copy packets/materials for meetings
• Continuing Medical Education - assist in preparation for the CME programs, (distribute flyers and prepare sign-in sheets and enter physician attendance) 
• Maintain the licensure expirables and monthly reports. 
• Duties as assigned • Photocopy approved privileges for distribution in privilege binders and keep binders accurate 
• Assist Credentials Coordinator prepare credential binders for new applicants 
• Assist in preparing outgoing mailings 
• Assist medical staff coordinators in preparing for meetings, i.e. Photocopying and distributing packets 
• Enter attendance following each CME program

Required: 

• Experience in a Medical Staff Office preferred. 
• Strong written /English communication skills, word processing (Windows), dictation, medical terminology Excellent customer relations skills. 
• Ability to work independently, 
• use good judgment and maintain confidentiality. 
• Previous secretarial experience required. 
• High School Graduate or GED
