About the role

Description

The Monell Chemical Senses Center, founded in 1968, is the world’s first nonprofit scientific institute devoted exclusively to basic research on the chemical senses: taste, smell, and chemosensory irritation. Research at Monell contributes to a wide range of scientific and practical knowledge. With more than fifty Ph.D.-level scientists, the Center is making major progress toward understanding how the chemical senses function and their importance in everyday life. A research technician is currently available for research in the molecular mechanisms of taste stem cells and the signaling transduction of intestinal “taste-like” tuft cells (see recent representative publications) in the Jiang laboratory at the Monell Center.  Experience with molecular biology and small animal surgery techniques is desired but not mandatory.  A background in chemosensory research is not required. Stipend is in accordance with NIH standards.  This position is supported by NIH and industry grants. Candidates should be proficient in the following:

A bachelor's degree in molecular biology, genetics, neuroscience, immunology, physiology or a related field is required.

Experience with mouse handling is preferred.
