POSITION SUMMARY: 

The primary responsibility of this position is to maximize the effectiveness of the maintenance 
department by coordinating with operations to plan maintenance activities. The maintenance 
planner will be responsible for maintaining the Plant Maintenance program within SAP.  

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Understanding of manufacturing equipment well enough to estimate labor hours, tools, and 
resources needed to complete different work orders. 
• Prepare, evaluate, and update preventative maintenance plans to drive improvement in 
department metrics. 
• Develop and maintain schedules that are in sync with the organization’s maintenance goals. 
• Monitor progress and adjust scheduled activities when dealing with shifting priorities and 
unplanned disruptions.  
• Act as the primary liaison person between maintenance and operations. 
• Lead communication between maintenance and other internal beneficiaries of maintenance 
work to ensure that everyone receives timely, efficient, and quality service. 
• Coordinate planned downtimes and minimize interference with production schedules. 
• Lead process improvements within department to decrease mean time to repair (MTTR) 
and increase mean time between repair (MTBR) 
• Establish job goals for the maintenance workforce. 
• Monitor workload vs labor resources and shift work to level load. 
• Help with keeping an optimal stock of spare parts and materials. 
• Work with Maintenance clerk to inventory accuracy in spare parts stock room. 
• Sometimes, they will need to prepare and ensure compliance with preventive maintenance 
checklists and other standardized procedures (if the organization is missing a maintenance 
supervisor).
