Upper School Math Teacher (Immediate Leave Replacement Opening)

Position Overview
Riverdale’s Mathematics Department seeks an enthusiastic and collegial educator to teach Upper School Math (Pre-Calculus & Calculus). This immediate leave replacement opening is 3/4 time for the remainder of the 2024-2025 school year. This opportunity will begin as a co-teaching position with current Riverdale faculty, with the hope that the candidate will be able to assume full responsibility of the classes after a transitionary period.
We hope for a candidate with deep content knowledge but, as importantly, a solid understanding of how people learn in a lasting and transferable way. We seek a candidate who likes young people and can demonstrate that to them meaningfully, and who sees their job as educating the whole child, not just in their discipline. Necessary Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in mathematics or a related field from an accredited college or university.
• 3-5 years experience teaching at the Upper School level (Pre-Calculus & Calculus)
• Can effectively develop and teach both introductory and advanced math classes.
• Intentionally builds and sustains an inclusive learning environment for all students.

• An interest in engaging students in an environment that is both supportive and rigorous
• An interest in growing Riverdale’s math program for students to address real problems through problem-based learning
• A desire to participate in community activities including advising groups, service opportunities, or other co-curriculars. 
• Demonstrated collegiality, collaboration, teamwork, and organization
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging work
