Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Sales Engineer to join the Data Center Power & Control Division (DPC) Team. The Sales Engineer is responsible for the technical aspects of our pre-sales efforts and is specifically focused our client’s technical needs and challenges. The Sales Engineer leverages all of their resources and designs practical solutions leveraging all of DPC’s Power Access and Control products and solutions. The Sales Engineer is both technically skilled and sales proficient with a strong understanding of sales objectives and engineering and design capabilities. The Sales Engineer will represent the entire range of Legrand DPC’s products and services. This position will provide support to DPC’s RVPs and Territory Sales Managers in the US and Canada, along with resellers, distribution partners and various agency and sales contacts within our division.

 

This is a REMOTE position supporting the Southeast, reporting to the VP, Field Sales Engineering. 

 

What Will You Do?

 

The main responsibility of this role is to participate in sales activities for Power Access and Control which include, but not limited to the following:

  • Assist Legrand’s field sales team with onsite support in achieving financial objectives, retaining existing customer base, winning new customers and driving innovation.
  • Establish close working relationships with end user customers as their key ally and assist them with solving persistent problems with practical solutions and industry leading support for PDU's, KVM, hybrid transfer switch and related technologies.
  • Consult directly with customers to explain the technical aspects of DPC’s capabilities.
  • Identifying feature requirements, architect practical and workable solutions, uncover hidden opportunities.
  • Participates in managing and developing customer and partner relationships for long-term growth, new business discoveries and long-term success.
  • Directly assist in the project management of proof of concept and product evaluations.
  • Perform technical presentations and deliver training to customers and partners.
  • Perform detailed system design of DPC’s line of rack PDU’s, KVM, hybrid transfer switch and related technologies.
  • Functionally describe Legrand DPC brands and solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Provide pre-sales technical support for product queries from new and existing customers/partners.
  • Articulate product & solution capabilities and interoperability with customer's existing infrastructure in line with customer organizations strategic goals.
  • Participate in RFP proposals and formulate responses to RFPs.
  • Enhance customer relationships by demonstrating a strong understanding of the customer’s business and long-term objectives.
  • Assist in identifying new market opportunities and trends for PDUs, cabinets, containment and related Legrand products and services for the datacenter environment.

 

Qualifications

Required Skills

 

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University with emphasis in Engineering, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ sales support experience in Data Center industry and/or data center related hardware manufacturing. 

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • The role is Remote, supporting EST and CST timezones 
  • Ability to travel up to 50 percent domestically 
  • Project management skills including planning, organizing, and coordinating tasks. Computer proficient with knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint), and experience with Salesforce.com preferred.
  • Highly effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to provide information across multiple groups in the Company including Production, Finance, Engineering, Marketing, and Sales.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a dynamic team environment.
  • Strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong desire to drive & support customer facing meetings, product demonstrations and design discussions.
  • Focused on quality & timely deliverables.
  • A strong sense of urgency in fulfilling customer and Sales Team requirements.

Salary and Benefits: $130,000 - $150,000 OTE
