Bacterial Core Lead Scientist

About the Role

Culmen International is seeking a Bacterial Core Lead Scientist to support a USAMRIID program at Fort Detrick, MD.

 

The Bacterial Core Lead Scientist provides technical leadership for core bacteriology research and supports coordination of high-containment animal studies and in vitro assay development.

 

What You’ll Do in Your New Role

 

• Design and lead bacterial pathogenesis experiments.
• Direct immunological and molecular assay implementation.
• Ensure research compliance and documentation quality.
• Mentor junior scientists and technicians.
• Interface with government stakeholders and collaborators.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in microbiology or infectious disease research.6+ years in bacteriology, with experience leading technical research teams.
• Advanced knowledge of bacterial genetics and immunology.
• Strong leadership and technical documentation skills.
• Experience in BSL-3 operations.
• Familiarity with animal study protocols.Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance and enroll in the Personnel Reliability Program (PRP), if required.

 

Desired Qualifications

•  Ph.D. preferred.
