Job Description

Primary Function of Position 

The Advanced Energy team at Intuitive is a multidisciplinary group committed to developing innovative medical devices for robotic platforms, technologies, and programs. We focus on creating groundbreaking technologies that tackle significant challenges and fill gaps in our healthcare system. The individual in this position will report directly to the technical lead of the advanced energy product. They will be tasked with the technical development of advanced energy products at Intuitive, focusing primarily on the electrical design of new generator systems for advanced devices and exploring innovative system concepts for new surgical robotics applications. The ideal candidate should have a hands-on approach, deep technical knowledge in relevant areas, and a proven track record of successful product development projects. They must thrive in a high-energy team setting and be able to make informed decisions under the typical time constraints and uncertainties of new product development.

Essential Job Duties

• Lead schematic capture, PCB layout, and system bring-up for new hardware.
• Provide rapid development and iterative design support for the testing of new technology.
• Collaborate with software, mechanical, and manufacturing teams.
• Debug hardware systems and resolve bugs to meet timelines.
• Develop and manage verification and manufacturing test plans.
• Participate in technology explorations and provide insights that influence future product development.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience 

• Proficient at schematic capture and PCB layout using Altium, OrCAD and Cadence Allegro CAD/EDA design tools.
• Demonstrated competency in electronics and computer architecture and transitioning products to manufacturing.
• Experienced in signal integrity and EMI/EMC design techniques for PCBA design.
• Ability to drive DFx design activities through hardware development cycles to meet or exceed product performance targets.
• Hands-on knowledge and experience using testing equipment such as oscilloscopes, various probes, frequency response analyzers, power supplies, electronic loads, and DMMs; Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment.
• Experience with component selection while interacting with suppliers on critical components. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, a strong team player, able to take initiative, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively as part of a strong hardware team.
• Thrives in a fast-paced environment, interacting with scientists and engineers from a variety of disciplines.
