Thermoforming Operator- 3rdShift

Printpack Rigid is seeking a candidate to fill a Thermoforming Technician position in our Newport News, VA Facility on night shift. This position will report to the Shift Supervisor and his/her key responsibility is to operate the Thermoforming machine safely and efficiently, in accordance with specifications and quality standards.

Hours: 11pm to 7am Mon-Fri
$2.50/hr. shift differential when working from 7pm to 11pm
Ability to train on day shift 7am-3pm

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Set up and/or operate equipment (Thermoformers, vacuum lifts, forklifts, pallet jacks, hoists, micrometers, dials, or calibrated scales)   

• Ability to obtain Forklift/Material Handler skill set and certification  

• Ability to use computer systems such as Microsoft office and Inventory Managing Software 

• Audit process parameters to ensure the process is within customer specifications. 

• Ability to learn and safely lock and tag out equipment 

• Demonstrate an understanding, recognition, and response of all common process defects 

• Taking/measuring product samples to ensure product is within customer specifications. 

• Entering and analyzing product quality data to identify if the product is within control and specification.  

• Perform basic operator preventative and daily maintenance to avoid shutdowns. 

• Perform visual inspections and respond to any defects appropriately  

• Identify machine and production issues and quickly resolve malfunctions to maintain production schedules. 

• Read and follow production schematics to produce products in line with design and manufacturing standards. 

• Ability to communicate closely with online product inspectors when needed. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

Required: 

• High School Diploma/GED or minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience.  

• Ability to obtain forklift certification. 

• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. 

• Ability to wear all required PPE (hearing protection, safety glasses, hairnet, uniforms, and steel-toed shoes) 

• Ability to work weekends (36/48 weekly shift), holidays, and overtime as needed.
