About you and this role:
Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Emergency Services & Security (ES&S) Specialist located in Midland, MI. The Senior ES&S Specialist leads and provides direction for the effective implementation of site emergency services and security management systems and work processes. You will support a larger scope of sites and assets. This role requires expanded conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline and broadens capabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Ensures work and emergency response activities are executed safely in alignment with Dow Life Critical Standards.
- Ensures ES&S work processes, standards, and procedures are effectively maintained and applied.
- Provides leadership and coaching to ES&S personnel to facilitate personnel development and continuous improvement in performance and teamwork.
- Provides emergency management and crisis management coaching. Engages and facilitates the Site Emergency Managers Network and the development and implementation of drills and exercises to test and maintain site and department preparedness.
- Provides cost-effective delivery of ES&S services through use of standard work processes and implementation of common systems. Implement annual and long term capital projects and develop annual budgets. Operates the department within these guidelines and conducts regular analysis to ensure costs are in compliance with budgetary and functional guidelines.
- Ensures compliance with all federal, state, local and company requirements related to ES&S operations. Ensures integration of site emergency and crisis plans with business, functional, and external crisis plans. Establishes effective relationships with Industrial park partners as well as key external stakeholders such as local and state emergency management agencies and responders.
- Consults with and supports the ES&S Expertise Center to ensure alignment with the ES&S functional strategy.
- Will provide support as the EOC (Emergency Operations Center) on call.
- May need to act as a backup for Field Technicians.
- Ability to develop and deliver Emergency Services & Security training.
- Obtain or have expert knowledge in preventative maintenance and care of emergency apparatus.
- Obtain or have expert knowledge in security and camera technologies.
Required qualifications:
- A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED
- A minimum of 6 years of security, emergency services, or other related experience
- Candidate must be willing and able to work non-traditional work hours when necessary (including weekends)
- A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process
Preferred qualifications:
- An associate's degree or three years or more of relevant military training/experience
- State of Michigan Certified Firefighter 1 & 2 or reciprocal certification
- State of Michigan Emergency Medical Technician License EMT -B or reciprocal licensure
Skills, knowledge, and abilities:
- Being proficient in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel
- Demonstrating competencies in the areas of: leadership, initiative, teamwork, and interpersonal effectiveness
- Ensuring a safe work environment by working safely and, complying with environmental, health and safety standards
- Strong work ethic and being able to remain productive in an empowered team environment
Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:

- Work at heights, climb stairs and ladders
- Work in tight and close in spaces
- Wear all required personal protective equipment, including but not limited to respirator
