Position Description:

The University of Louisville School of Dentistry is seeking to hire a part-time Dental Hygienist I. This position provides direct patient care and works closely with the General Practice Residency (GPR) program at UofL Health Jackson Street Outpatient Center.  The GPR residency is a post-graduate training program in all areas of general dentistry with a focus on advanced restorative and/or medical complex cases. Located in the UofL Health Jackson Street Outpatient Center at 550 S Jackson St, Louisville, KY 40202.

This is a part-time position, 3 days a week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Obtains vital signs, reviews medical history, performs preliminary exam, charts a periodontal examination if indicated. 

  • Obtains digital bitewing and periapical x-rays as indicated. 

  • Provides direct patient care for GPR clinic patients to include oral hygiene instruction, scaling of teeth, root planning, periodontal maintenance, and dental prophylaxis. 

  • Instructs patients in the cause, prevention, and consequences of periodontal disease. 

  • Instructs patients on appropriate oral hygiene techniques. 

  • Provide nutritional counseling when indicated. 

  • Maintains instruments and operatory according to accepted standards. 

  • Manages recall appointment schedules and records. 

  • Works in conjunction with GPR residents to deliver quality patient care.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Target Compensation Maximum:

$47.04

Target Compensation Minimum:

$31.37

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
