About the role
The Aviation Security (AvSec) team is seeking an enthusiastic, customer-obsessed Aviation Security Manager to provide leadership and oversight at Fulfillment Center locations that transfer packages to Amazon AIR. The incumbent will be responsible for launching and overseeing operations at locations within a specific geographic region and for enforcing security standards by ensuring compliance with corporate policies, federal regulations, and standardized processes at multiple locations.
AvSec ensures the security of all cargo traveling on Amazon AIR. The Aviation Security Manager serves as the interface between FC leaders, Amazon AIR, and AvSec leadership. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with established security policies and procedures as well as developing and improving processes to ensure compliance and operational integrity. The successful candidate will also own the launch of new facilities, ongoing operations, as well as goals and performance targets in your region. The AvSec Manager will be responsible for identifying, reporting, and leading the correction of non-compliances and deficiencies. The successful candidate will serve as a point of contact for regulatory engagement.
Key job responsibilities
· Own the overall security and regulatory compliance for off-airport air cargo acceptance points within the region
· Set and clarify requirements and expectations with associates and leadership at each facility
·Conduct inspections and audits of processes and records
· Drive creation of security and quality initiatives that continuously improve processes and mitigate deficiencies
· Oversee staffing qualifications and ensure required levels are maintained
· Provide job-specific training to associates
· Own launch functions for new locations
· Work closely with site leaders and support staff (e.g., HR, LP, Safety) to ensure on-going support for AIR security initiatives and policies
· Work closely with Amazon AIR regional leadership and 3P service providers
· Manage timely, ethical, and professional investigations into security incidents and violations
· Serve as Amazon’s representative for Transportation Security Administration (TSA) inspections and inquiries; investigate allegations of regulatory violations and mitigate regulatory enforcement
· Utilize Security Management Systems (SeMS) to identify the root cause for failures and develop mitigating actions to reduce risk
· Work flexible hours to meet business needs
· Successfully pass a security background check as prescribed by the TSA
· Bachelor degree or 5+ years of experience in a security related field
· 5+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following disciplines: corporate security management, transportation/supply chain operations or aviation security
· 5+ years of experience in a customer service driven environment
· Experience with all Microsoft Office applications
· Strong leadership skills and knowledge; ability to influence change and drive desired outcomes in a matrixed organization
· Ability to independently manage through ambiguity and handle changing priorities, to effectively prioritize, multitask, and exercise good judgment
· 2+ years of experience in aviation regulatory compliance
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort collaborating with site leaders
· Proven ability to develop and implement goals and strategies
· Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem-solving ability

Basic Qualifications
· Bachelor degree or 5+ years of experience in a security related field

Preferred Qualifications
· Master’s degree in a related field or MBA· Strong leadership skills and knowledge; ability to influence change and drive desired outcomes in a matrixed organization

· 2+ years of experience in aviation regulatory compliance
