About the Role:
Strategic Sourcing is a core specialist support department, within AIB Operations Office, providing bank-wide focus and leadership, through the provision of professional procurement services to market leading standards, directly through internal resources and through external partnerships. Strategic Sourcing provides services across all AIB geographies, including the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, UK, and US
You will be joining a diverse team of Sourcing Category Managers who have responsibility for managing the Business and Professional Services Sourcing Categories on a group wide basis. This includes categories such as Consulting and Advisory Services, Property and Facilities Management, Banking Services, Marketing, HR, Learning and Development, Contingent Workforce, Currency Services, Cash in Transit and Business Outsource Projects
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Work with the business to understand the demand and pipeline of transformation activities, Understand the spend profile across the Sourcing categories, develop and maintain an ongoing category strategy, including current and future demand patterns across the organisation.
- Accountable for the development & implementation of sourcing strategies for all relevant third party spend, aligned with business requirements and Sourcing and Supplier Development methodologies. Deliver maximum value across all supplier relationship.
- Ensure that all appropriate third party spend is sourced and managed in accordance with appropriate governance and policies. In particular that risk is fully quantified, managed via an appropriate assurance approach optimised to the risk appetite of the business.
- Be the source of expert knowledge for the Sourcing categories, for both existing supplier engagements and potential capabilities in the broader supply market, including external networking/benchmarking.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with operational users, functional specialist, and senior stakeholders, to fully understand and help shape business requirements.
- Own the relationship for major suppliers engaged across multiple business units, if appropriate working with a nominated AIB accountable executive and be the single point of contact for the category’s suppliers within the organisation.
- Reduce cost of existing or proposed sourced solutions, through robust application of sourcing and supplier development methodologies including full use of demand challenge, optimising specification, joint process improvement, aggregation/disaggregation of spend, best price evaluation, low cost sourcing options and restructuring supplier relationships.
What you will bring:
- 5 years+ experience in sourcing creating and managing a sourcing strategy.
- Ability to establish a category plan, working in collaboration with other teams in supporting continuous process improvement in-line with Sourcing & Third-Party Supplier Management policy.
- Strong understanding of sourcing / procurement trends and their potential implications for the business
- Excellent influencing/ negotiation skills, ability to be able to engage with and influence senior stakeholders within Sourcing across the Bank and with external suppliers.
- Ability to negotiate with Senior Management and suppliers on commercial, regulatory, and service issues with the inclusion of consultation and guidance on complex commercial and performance issues all levels up to executive level – while also displaying the capability to structure innovative commercial models to drive supplier partnerships.
- Strong leadership, people management, verbal, and written communication, organisational and planning skills.
