The Opportunity
Black & Veatch is seeking a qualified Vendor Relationship Manager to lead the Digital & IT Vendor Relationship Management function. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Ensure that Black & Veatch maximizes the value of vendor relationships, mitigates risks, and maintains high levels of vendor performance
- Be responsible for managing vendor contracts, tracking performance, collaborating with internal business leaders to ensure vendors are meeting contractual obligations, and ensuring cost overruns and service level agreement (SLA) breaches are avoided
The successful candidate will have a strong background in vendor management, excellent communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders (Sourcing, Legal, Finance) and external vendors.
The Team
Black & Veatch’s Business Enablement consists of critical groups that help enable the organizations people, projects, and businesses to be as successful as possible. Functions in this group include Digital & Information Technology, Global Finance, Global Human Resources, Legal, Risk Management, and Government Affairs and Real Estate and Building Services.
Key Responsibilities
Contract Value Realization:
- Ensure vendor contracts deliver the expected value by actively monitoring performance and contractual obligations.
- Collaborate with business leaders to ensure vendors are performing according to contracts and that the business operates within contract terms to avoid cost overruns and SLA violations.
- Establish internal and vendor-facing policies, standards, processes, and templates for vendor interactions.
Performance & Relationship Management:
- Conduct business reviews to evaluate vendor performance against agreed SLAs and KPIs. Develop and execute a corrective action plan to resolve performance issues.
- Develop and maintain vendor scorecards and performance metrics across technical, process, and business outcomes such as innovation and competitive advantage.
- Collect feedback from internal stakeholders to assess vendor satisfaction and develop and execute a corrective action plan to address any issues or opportunities.
Vendor Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Act as the primary liaison between vendors and internal business leaders, ensuring alignment of vendor performance with business strategy and key objectives.
- Provide timely reports and vendor performance data to relevant stakeholders, fostering analytics-driven decision-making.
Risk and Issue Management:
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with vendor relationships, including financial risks, third-party involvement, and performance risks.
- Analyze problem areas, lead the resolution of disputes, and manage escalations with vendors.
