Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. The position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.

About the Position

Do you want to make a meaningful impact by protecting life’s most important records? As a Bilingual Vital Records Registrar, you will play a key role in safeguarding essential documents. In this position, you’ll register, correct, and amend vital records, issue certified birth and death certificates, and provide expert guidance to community partners and stakeholders. You will help protect public health by maintaining record security, monitoring mortality trends, and ensuring strict compliance with financial policies, Arizona State Statutes, administrative codes, and federal requirements.

We Require

  • Two years of office, administrative, or clerical experience

  • Must be fluent in English and Spanish

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Post-secondary education may substitute for the experience requirement on a year-for-year basis

We Also Value

  • Three or more years of office, administrative, or clerical experience

  • Experience working with U.S. vital records/registration

  • Experience working with medical records or in a health-related field, including mortuary science

  • Certification as a Public Health or Community Health Worker from an accredited college or currently enrolled in a Public Health or Community Health Worker program and eligible to receive certification within six months of hire

Job Contributions

  • Apply specialized working knowledge to register live birth, still birth, foundling, death, and fetal death certificates that occur primarily within Maricopa County and the State of Arizona as necessary

  • Apply the appropriate Arizona Revised Statutes, Arizona Administrative Codes, policies, and procedures that determine who may or may not lawfully register vital records and obtain certified copies of birth, death, and fetal death certificates.

  • Review and process administrative orders or court orders submitted for the purpose of creating or amending Arizona vital records. Enter related data into appropriate databases

  • Validate all identification and evidentiary documents while maintaining 100% data and identity security of all submissions, including various government-issued identification, evidentiary documents, official files, and records
