The NSRL is a multidisciplinary team of researchers, innovators, and scientists who lead with science to make athletes* measurably better. We deliver validated insights and innovative capabilities to drive the future of Nike products and services. The NSRL Applied Apparel Research Team conducts research that provides insights leading to innovative apparel and measurable benefits for athletes*. We apply scientific methods and research results to drive new concepts and platforms across multiple innovation teams.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for a passionate Senior Researcher who can help us create the future of sport by driving foundational and applied research projects aimed at delivering validated performance insights that result in technologically innovative apparel and/or equipment.

What You Will Work On

You will carry out foundational research in apparel biomechanics, fueling and supporting the innovation agenda and resulting in functionally enhanced innovative products including bras and leggings. Participating in the development of new tools, methods, and procedures that open new research possibilities. You will also become a resident specialist for all the biomechanical research tools used in the NSRL. You will demonstrate Nike's dedication to product performance research through attendance at scientific meetings and conferences. You will present research findings and insights to internal technical and non-technical audiences!

Who You Will Work With

You will report to the Director of Apparel Research in the NSRL and work under the direction of a Principal Researcher on the Applied Apparel Research Team. You will serve as a full-time contributor to the product creation process, interacting with Researchers and Product Innovators in all phases of research to provide a well-rounded support of innovation concepts!

What You Bring

  • A Master’s degree in Biomechanics or a related field (e.g., Engineering, Kinesiology, Human Factors, Ergonomics, etc.) or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training
  • 2+ years experience inclusive of Master's degree training
  • Detailed understanding of anatomy, biomechanical engineering, experimental design, sport performance, and injury mechanisms
  • Experience in foundational concepts in engineering, including classical mechanics, vibration analysis, etc.
  • Strong programming skills (Python and/or Matlab)
  • Experience using lab- and field-based biomechanical data collection tools to measure human rigid body and soft tissue dynamics
  • Proficiency in signal processing, data analysis, and statistical analysis of biomechanical and physiological data
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience being a creative scientist (e.g., novel protocols or processing techniques)
  • Good communication, people, and collaboration skills
  • Bias toward action and resilience in the face of adversity
  • Exposure to industrial research experience preferred
  • Knowledge of apparel and/or equipment product creation process is a plus
  • Computational biomechanics experience is a plus
