What’s unique about this role?

The Intake Specialist is responsible for assisting with more advanced Intake tasks such as archive and purge requests, custom requests, email/file conversions, job requirements scoping, workflow improvements, evidence disposition and documentation, while maintaining high levels of quality. This role possesses a working knowledge and skill set that can be applied to perform the core duties of the Intake Technician role with little to no supervision. These tasks can include but are not limited to, logging evidentiary media, pre-processing data, and preparing reports.

What will this person do?

  • Assist with scoping of custom requests with other departments and provide accurate timelines for completion of work.
  • Perform advanced pre-processing functions using Forensic tools to search and/or cull data per client requests.
  • Identify Mac OS data and perform advanced pre-processing tasks to properly handle Mac Mail files.
  • Perform email conversion of Mac Mail to PST using commercial tools.
  • Identify Gmail data types and perform email conversion using proprietary tools.
  • Proactively identify areas for improved workflow, quality, internal documentation and processes to maximize system resources and efficiencies as applicable.
  • Assist with process improvements via testing, providing feedback, etc. 
  • Contribute to positive working environment as team player; willingly accept additional challenges and help drive issues to resolution.
  • Assist with training and other internal initiatives as needed.
  • Handle physical media while maintaining proper Chain of Custody, generate reports and conduct data backups, extraction/restoration, and pre-processing using forensic applications and methods.
  • Work proactively on job requests from a queue while effectively communicating job status and potential issues with Intake Manager\Queue Manager.
  • Use password cracking software and industry known forensic tools.
  • Perform thorough quality checks on client data and work product at multiple stages to ensure quality and maintain a sense of urgency on high priority and critical requests.
  • Perform administrative duties relevant to project maintenance (billing, reporting, etc.).Help maintain a clean and well-organized computer lab at all times.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • High School degree or equivalent experience. Associate’s degree, two-year certification, Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent work experience/certifications preferred.
  • Typically requires 3 to 5 years of handling sensitive data, preferably in an electronic discovery environment.
  • Previous experience preferred in computer forensics, eDiscovery, information technology, or law firm litigation support preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated experience with computer hardware and physical media.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Duties are performed in a typical office environment while at a desk or computer table.  Duties require the ability to use a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material, in a quiet and professional setting.
  • Duties may require occasionally working outside normal business hours (evenings and weekends).
