About the role
Internal and external candidates will be considered for this vacancy. For the purposes of this vacancy, internal candidates are defined as staff members holding a regular, fixed-term or short-term graded or ungraded contract, including Junior Professional Officers (JPOs), staff on Special Leave Without Pay (SLWOP), and staff members on secondment/loan released by the Organization, unless otherwise specified in their contract. Staff members holding a regular, fixed-term or short-term graded contract will not retain their contract type if appointed to an ungraded position.
Context
Under the direct supervision of the National Project Officer (Head of Programmes), the Senior Case Manager provides technical supervision and quality assurance for case management services within IOM Hungary’s Protection and Social Inclusion programming. The incumbent ensures that case workers implement high-quality, standardized, and effective case management services, in line with IOM’s best practices and protection principles.
Context
Under the direct supervision of the National Project Officer (Head of Programmes), the Senior Case Manager provides technical supervision and quality assurance for case management services within IOM Hungary’s Protection and Social Inclusion programming. The incumbent ensures that case workers implement high-quality, standardized, and effective case management services, in line with IOM’s best practices and protection principles.
1. Technical Supervision of Case Management
- Provide technical oversight and guidance to case workers, ensuring adherence to IOM’s case management standards and protection principles.
- Review and ensure consistency in risk assessments and the development of high-quality, tailored case plans.
- Facilitate peer learning and case consultations to enhance case workers' effectiveness.
2. Monitoring and Evaluation
- Monitor and evaluate the quality and impact of case management services.
- Identify trends and gaps in service provision and recommend programmatic improvements.
- Conduct case file reviews and case management audits to ensure compliance with data protection and confidentiality standards.
3. Guidance and Training
- Develop and deliver capacity-building initiatives, training sessions, and technical coaching for case workers.
- Ensure all case workers are well-equipped with the necessary tools, frameworks, and methodologies to provide effective case management.
- Support the Head of Programmes in designing continuous learning opportunities for case management teams.
4. Compliance and Coordination
- Ensure case workers adhere to IOM policies, donor requirements, and international best practices.
- Collaborate with Programme Managers and external stakeholders to enhance referral pathways and access to specialized services.
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Law, or a related field with three years of experience; or
- high school diploma with five years of experience.
- Proven experience in case management, protection, or social work.
- Experience in capacity building, training, or quality assurance of case management services.
- Knowledge of IOM protection policies, data protection standards, and case management frameworks.
- Strong technical knowledge of case management methodologies and protection frameworks.
- Excellent mentoring, training, and capacity-building skills.
- For this position, good understanding of English is required (oral and written).
- Fluency in Hungarian and/or Ukrainian is a distinct advantage.
