Summary
Corrections LPNs work in the St. Louis County Justice Services Center located in Clayton. The responsibilities of this position include performing nursing duties under the supervision of a RN Supervisor or RN. The primary duty of the LPN is to dispense medication. Additionally, there is 10% shift differential for evenings worked. Candidates possessing ACLS Certification will receive a $1.25 hourly addition to pay for hours worked up to a maximum of $100 per pay period. Full time LPNs can choose to work a day/evening rotating shift or a straight evening shift to include every other weekend and alternate holidays. We do not offer straight day shifts. Typical shifts are 8 hours. We are currently hiring for full time, part time and PRN roles.

Examples of duties
- Prepares and refills medication carts to administer prescribed medication to residents inside the housing units.
- Verifies identity of resident receiving medication and records name of drug, dosage and time of administration on specified forms or records.
- Presents medication to resident and observes ingestion or administers medications using specified procedures.
- Takes vital signs or observes resident to detect response to specified types of medication and prepares reports or notifies designated personnel of unexpected reactions.
- Documents reasons prescribed drugs are not administered.
- Records and restocks medication inventories.
- Provides education and teaching to promote resident wellness.
- Performs additional duties in accordance with the parameters of a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Qualifications
Requires completion of a one year training program at an accredited school for Practical Nurses and licensure as a Practical Nurse by the State of Missouri.Supplemental information
SELECTION AND APPOINTMENT: A selection committee will evaluate the qualifications of each applicant which will include recentness and appropriateness of the applicant's education and experience, answers to the supplemental questions, results of employment references investigated and any other appropriate information available. The selection committee will admit to the interview only those persons who possess the most job related qualifications and may establish admittance criteria beyond the minimum qualifications stated above.Responses provided to the interview questions listed under the Supplemental Question heading of this posting will comprise 100% of the applicant's earned grade. A candidate must earn a qualifying grade of 70 or more on the interview to be eligible for appointment. Once questions are scored, an email will be sent to the address on file with instructions on how to complete and submit a Conviction Questionnaire. Candidates have 3 days to complete the required questionnaire. The five top ranking candidates, based on the final grade, will be certified to the Department Director/Appointing Authority who will make the final decision.
All applicants conditionally offered a merit position will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Screening will be performed by a reputable clinical laboratory. The cost of screening will be covered by the County.
