Manager, Sustainable Infrastructure Engineering at atNorth
We are seeking a senior engineering resource to design and deliver data center systems at the nexus of performance and sustainability.
You will translate intent into buildable solutions across mechanical, electrical, controls, and facility integration, optimizing efficiency and materials circularity while maintaining reliability and scalability.
Focus areas may include PUE/WUE optimization, power architecture and heat‑reuse integration, free‑cooling strategies, low‑GWP refrigerants, LCA‑informed equipment selection, and grid/energy‑market alignment.
By closing the gap between concept and execution, you will reinforce atNorth’s leadership in sustainable infrastructure across the Nordics.
Key responsibilities:
In this role, you will serve as the connecting point between atNorth’s critical infrastructure design and its sustainability ambitions. You will ensure that mechanical, electrical, controls, and facility‑level concepts align with efficiency goals, circularity principles, and emerging heat‑reuse and grid‑integration opportunities.
You will help interpret EU Energy Efficiency requirements, validate that design and hardware choices support low‑GWP and lifecycle objectives, and safeguard that sustainability targets are carried through commissioning into operations.
Working closely with the relevant atNorth teams, you will help embed PUE, WUE, heat‑reuse potential, grid‑integration capability, and long‑term scalability into early‑stage evaluations.
By acting as the technical counterpart to suppliers and translating complex engineering and sustainability data into strategic insights, you will support the Chief Technology Officer in shaping atNorth’s future infrastructure roadmap.
Your profile:
You hold a Bachelor or Master degree in Engineering and possess a deep background in the design and commissioning of Tier III and IV data centers or heavy industrial infrastructure. You bring strong technical proficiency in Building Management Systems and mechanical cooling architectures to manage complex technical environments.
You have at least five years of leadership experience in high-stakes engineering environments focused on sustainable infrastructure. You are a proven problem-solver who views sustainability as a core engineering KPI and possesses the ability to translate technical challenges into scalable, commercial infrastructure solutions.
You possess advanced knowledge of EU Energy Efficiency Directives and their implications for large-scale power systems. Your approach is proactive and stress-resilient, complemented by a willingness to travel across the Nordics for on-site engineering audits and the flexibility to adapt to the needs of a fast-growing scale-up.
