BOLI has an opening for one Administrative Specialist 2 position in the Wage and Hour Division. This position will be based in our Portland office. The successful candidate may also be eligible to work a hybrid schedule.
This is a permanent, full-time, SEIU represented position. This recruitment may be used to fill additional vacancies as they occur.

What You Will Be Doing
Below is a sampling of job duties. It is not meant to encompass all duties.
Screen wage claims and other complaints received by the Wage and Hour Division, which includes reviewing claims/complaints for sufficient information, determining whether the Division has jurisdiction over the issues in the claim/complaint, and initiating appropriate action by the Division (assignment to a Compliance Specialist, resolution by established form letters, closure, phone interview, etc.)
Advise Oregon workers of the provisions of the laws administered/enforced by the Wage and Hour Division and referring them to other state and federal agencies if appropriate
Research and analyze the application of the law in response to questions and written inquiries from claimants, employers, attorneys, and the general public and exercise knowledge of statutes, administrative rules and regulations, and agency policies
Coordinate and generate payments from the agency’s Wage Security Fund to qualifying wage claimants statewide
Prepare, route and track wage claims and complaints received by the Wage and Hour Division
Generate correspondence to employers regarding wage claims filed
Respond to questions from employees and employers and explain the agency’s wage claim policies and procedures
Process wage claim payments received

Working Conditions:
This position spends a significant amount of time in the office; however, it may be required to visit and evaluate work sites. Because of the cubicle environment, there are other employees carrying on conversations around this position on an ongoing basis. There is occasional contact with angry and/or hostile employees and contractors. A valid Oregon’s driver’s license and acceptable driving record is required.
