Nature of Work
This position, under general supervision, performs routine maintenance in a variety of areas throughout BSU buildings. This work is performed under limited supervision with high latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

- Performs mechanical work such as installing sinks, pumps, garbage disposals, filters, screens, bulbs, etc.
- Performs semi-skilled electrical work.
- Performs general maintenance tasks for buildings, facilities, and grounds, i.e., pressure cleaning, painting, etc.
- Performs preventative maintenance on equipment used.
- Operates various manual and electrical tools in the performance of tasks (i.e., power saws, drills, and sanders),
- Responsible for transporting materials to and from work sites.
- Helps maintain cleanliness and aesthetics of buildings and facilities.
- Performs vehicle cleaning, safety, and operation inspections on assigned vehicle.
- Follows occupational safety protocol, Safety Data Sheets, and personal protective equipment guidelines.
- Performs administrative report and record maintenance duties, i.e., timesheets, activity logs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Basic electricity, plumbing, and carpentry.
- Efficient and safe operation of trade specific tools and equipment.
- Written, verbal, electronic, and visual communications for effective expression and clarity.
- Use of modern office equipment and various computer programs and applications, to include Microsoft Outlook.
- Organization, attention to detail, prioritization, and time management.
- Operate manual and power hand tools.
- Organize and review work for efficient results and accuracy.
- Handle a multitude of diverse tasks simultaneously while maintaining an attention to detail.
- Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with both internal and external contacts.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED; supplemented by two or more years’ of progressively responsible mechanical, electrical, and carpentry experience; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.
- Valid Florida driver’s license.
