Under supervision of the Director of Operations, serve as Traveling Medical Assistant/Area Specialist, responsible for:
- Supporting a geographically dispersed team across multiple locations in the northern Chicago region.
- Cross-trained as a Medical Assistant (MA) and a Patient Services Representative (PSR) to be able to support all MA and PSR positions and functions.
- Enthusiastically performs day to day operational responsibilities associated with supporting assigned locations, including providing direct patient care.
- Will provide project support and integration go-live support for a new physician and/or new practice location onboarding; Requires the ability to travel to multiple locations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- MA responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Interview patients to gather medical history and update medical records
- Gather basic vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, height, weight and pulse
- Prepare treatment rooms and patients for exam
- Sterilize necessary instruments
- Manage medical supplies and materials and work with Area Supervisor to order necessary inventory
- Take appropriate x-rays
- Performs administrative tasks as required
- PSR responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Greet patients
- Check in patients and assist with individual concerns, as they arise
- Collect appropriate information including insurance overview, co-pay and deductible assignment and open balances
- Takes initiative in the flow of daily operations
- Provides go-live integration support for new physicians and staff in new locations
- Provides on-site training support for new or existing staff
- Aids in developing, enforcing and implementing process and protocol
- Supports the inventory process
- Supports the expectation of professional, ethical and patient-focused conduct
- Develops effective working relationships with peers and physicians
- Attend meetings and calls as required
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Continuing education preferred
- Certified Medical Assistant certificate preferred
- Excellent organization abilities
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Creative and persistent problem solver
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Client/service oriented (internal and external)
- Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment
- Must be self-motivated with the ability to complete projects independently within established timeframes
- Advanced understanding/knowledge of computer data entry, Microsoft Excel and ability to navigate through any business-related software
- Proficient typing skills
SCHEDULE:
Schedules include practice operations Monday through Saturday, including up to an average of two Saturdays a month. Daily schedules are typically 4-12/hour shifts.
TRAVEL:
Local travel is required to locations within your assigned geographic region. This role will be assigned to cover a regional area however you may be required to occasionally travel outside of your assigned area. The Area Operations Specialist must have reliable transportation and be able to travel site to site, as assigned. Travel bonus is available for support of clinics outside the assigned area. This role is eligible for mileage reimbursement as well.
