Overview:
As the Supervisor of Warehouse and Empty Tote Management in an automotive manufacturing warehouse, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire process of managing material storage, picking and empty totes from storage to movement, ensuring that production lines have a consistent supply. Your leadership will be critical to maintaining a safe, efficient, and organized warehouse environment. You will need to coordinate closely with production, supply chain, and other warehouse teams to ensure that material and totes are available when needed, in good condition, and efficiently managed to prevent waste and delays. The role requires a combination of leadership skills, logistical knowledge, and attention to detail to ensure the continuous flow of materials within the plant, contributing to overall manufacturing efficiency.
What you’ll do:

Empty Tote Management:
- Tracking and Monitoring: Oversee the receipt, storage, and tracking of empty totes, ensuring they are readily available for use in the production process. Monitor the status and location of materials and totes in the warehouse.
- Storage Optimization: Ensure proper storage and organization of material and empty totes in the warehouse to maximize space and improve accessibility.
- Movement and Distribution: Coordinate the movement of material and empty totes to production areas or return them from production lines to be refilled or reused.
- Inventory Control: Maintain accurate inventory of material and empty totes, ensuring that there is an adequate supply available for production needs and minimizing shortages or overstocking.
- Tote Condition: Ensure that totes are inspected for damage and that any damaged totes are repaired or replaced in a timely manner to avoid disruption in the supply chain.
Logistics Coordination:
- Scheduling and Delivery: Coordinate with the production and logistics teams to ensure material and empty totes are delivered to the right locations at the right time, ensuring no interruption to the production process.
- Waste Minimization: Identify opportunities to improve material and tote processes, reduce waste, and minimize empty tote accumulation in non-productive areas.
- Process Flow Improvement: Work with other departments to streamline the flow of material and empty totes between the warehouse and production lines, minimizing bottlenecks and delays.
Team Leadership and Supervision:
- Team Management: Lead and supervise a team of warehouse associates responsible for handling, moving, and organizing material and empty totes. Provide training, set performance goals, and ensure the team is working efficiently.
- Performance Monitoring: Track and evaluate the performance of team members and ensure that warehouse activities are completed on time and in compliance with company standards.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure the team follows safety protocols and warehouse best practices, maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient environment.
- Problem Solving: Address issues such as missing material or damaged totes, delays in delivery, or any other logistics problems that might arise within the tote management process.
