This position provides support to the overall SOCSOUTH mission by providing highly specialized technical and operational related functions for the Directorate of Operations (J3). The team member shall provide program support to multiple directorates within Special Operations Command South.  


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES. 

The Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection Threat Specialist (AT/FP) shall perform tasks such as: 

  • Monitor the overall Antiterrorism posture to ensure adequate protection is provided for all phases of planning, design, preparation, training, operations, and safety of personnel. The team member shall be versed in the Core Vulnerability Assessment Management Program (CVAMP) to include knowledge of the DoD Unified Facility Criteria (UFC) criterion. Personnel shall be designated as AT/FP Specialists and may be required to provide services outside of normal duty hours. 
  • Monitor overall Anti-terrorism posture to ensure adequate protection is provided for all phases of planning, design, preparation, training, operations, and safety of personnel. Develop technological projections of threat organizations and threat systems employment for use in scenarios, models, and training in support of Force Protection.  
  • Support the interpretation of the meaning and potential impact of collected intelligence and threat data. (Reference SOF SOP). 
  • Complete an Antiterrorism Vulnerability Assessment (ATVA) and disseminate it to affected entities within five (5) business days. An ATVA Observations & Mitigation Measures MFR shall be completed and submitted to all affected entities within 72 hours or three (3) business days.  
  • Coordinate with the J2-CI (Counterintelligence) and provide data inputs for the threat working group to conduct analysis of threat information and to recommend appropriate response measures as the mission requires. 
  • Adhere to and comply with the 32 AT Standards published in the 2017 USOUTHCOM Regulation 34-2, Antiterrorism Program and Force Protection Condition (FPCON) System, and the 2015 USSOCOM Directive 525-4, Antiterrorism Program. The AT/FP threat specialist shall be prepared and poised to plan, coordinate, support, execute, and/or brief at the GO level, on any of the 32 Standards listed in these publications. 

Requirements

  • 10 years prior military experience, experience working in a SOF headquarters required. 
  • 3 years SOUTHCOM AOR experience in operations  
  • Must be Level II AT/FP certified. 
  • Graduate of all the following courses: 
  • Conventional Physical Security/Crime Prevention Course 
  • DoD Security Engineering Planning and Standards Blast Resistant Structural Design 
  • VAPO Vulnerability Assessment Protection Option 
  • Entry Control Facilities / Access Control Points (ECF/ACP) are highly desirable. 
  • Demonstrate familiarity with the Defense Critical Infrastructure Program (DCIP), and Risk Assessment/Risk Response/Critical Asset Identification Process  
  • Possess a current SECRET security clearance and be able to obtain a TS/SCI within 120 days of hire.
