The Director of Engineering will be responsible for overseeing the engineering department, ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality products, and continuously improving our technology architecture. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of engineering best practices.
What You'll Bring:
5 years of proficiency experience in Java and Spring Boot
5 years of proven experience in designing and reviewing software architecture
3-5 years of excellent leadership and team management skills
Strong understanding of microservices architecture and GCP cloud services
Demonstrated ability to manage engineering teams and stakeholders
Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
We’re also looking for the preferred skills below. Whether you are proficient or could use some brushing up, we’re happy to support your development in:
Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
Work experience in GCP is preferred
Good knowledge of Cassandra, Postgres, Redis, design and architecture
Problem-solving mindset
Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies
Impact You'll Make:
Expectations for the first 90 days:
Conduct a comprehensive review of the current software architecture and identify areas for improvement.
Establish strong working relationships with team members and key stakeholders.
Develop a strategic plan for upcoming projects and initiatives.
Day-to-day role responsibilities:
Oversee the design and implementation of software solutions.
Manage the engineering team, ensuring high performance and continuous improvement.
Coordinate with stakeholders to align technology strategies with business goals.
Monitor and manage operational performance, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of services.
Innovation and R&D:
Encourage and facilitate innovation within the engineering team.
Lead research and development initiatives to explore new technologies and methodologies.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement and experimentation.
Risk Management:
Identify potential risks in projects and develop mitigation strategies.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Implement security best practices to protect company data and infrastructure.
