As an Industrial Engineer at General Motors, you will play a key role in shaping world‑class manufacturing operations. You’ll partner closely with production teams to implement lean systems, analyze throughput data, and drive performance improvements across the plant. You will help develop standardized work for new products, support major launches, and lead continuous improvement initiatives that elevate safety, quality, and efficiency. Success in this role requires agility, curiosity, and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, highly collaborative manufacturing environment.

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)

  • Champion lean manufacturing principles to eliminate waste in time, materials, labor, machine utilization, and other non‑value‑added activities.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement process changes that enhance manufacturing efficiency, product quality, and operational stability.
  • Optimize workflows, sequences of operations, and resource utilization to support production goals.
  • Build and maintain operating plans that ensure effective allocation of labor, equipment, and materials.
  • Create and track performance metrics to monitor project progress, identify risks, and drive accountability.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives focused on waste reduction, throughput optimization, and cost savings.
  • Conduct detailed data analysis to establish shop‑floor metrics, diagnose bottlenecks, and solve complex operational challenges.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, maintenance, engineering, and production teams to provide technical support and drive cross‑functional problem‑solving.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field; Industrial Engineering preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, or related discipline.
  • Proficiency in lean manufacturing tools and methodologies.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Project, Word, PowerPoint), and analytical or business software.
  • Strong analytical, critical‑thinking, and problem‑solving abilities with a track record of implementing process improvements.
  • Familiarity with automotive manufacturing standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Experience supporting or leading continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross‑functional teams.

What Will Set You Apart (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Completion of all required Global Manufacturing System (GMS) training.
  • Prior experience in automotive manufacturing, production operations, or high‑volume industrial environments.
  • Strong understanding of automotive manufacturing processes, systems, and production technologies.
