Interfaces: Students, parents, administrators, staff, and other stakeholders as appropriate

Job Purpose: The coach shall prayerfully help students learn attitudes, skills, and subject matter that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible Christian athletes to the praise and glory of God.

Major Responsibilities:


Reflect the purpose of the school, which is to honor Christ in every class and in every activity


Integrate Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout activities


Represent the school in a favorable and professional manner


Develop and maintain rapport with students, parents, and staff by treating others with friendliness, dignity, and consideration 


Maintain regular communication with parents


Lead students to a realization of their self-worth in Christ


Model and teach leadership to students


Set goals and teach students how to obtain them


Model and teach students teamwork skills


Teach students how to apply athletic lessons to success in life


Set high standards for language and be a good example


Motivate your team with a positive attitude, making the athletic experience fun


Ensure all participants feel important by allowing for playing time whenever possible


Understand that middle school participation is mandatory 


Utilize valid teaching techniques to achieve curriculum goals within the framework of the school's philosophy  


Enforce rules of conduct by keeping proper discipline on the school premises for a good learning environment 


Be firm, fair, and consistent in discipline


Cooperate with the School Board and administration team in implementing all policies, procedures, and directives governing the operation of the school 

QualificationsSkills and Abilities:


Previous work or volunteer experience with junior high or high school student-athletes preferred


Must be able to work well as part of a team


Must possess positive communication skills


Must demonstrate self-control in stressful scenarios and remain above reproach at all times

 

Educational Requirements:


High school diploma or equivalent 

 

Essential Job Functions:

Must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally; 10 pounds of force frequently; and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects; perform repetitive motion, such as grasping, picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise utilizing finger dexterity


Must be able to regularly remain stationary and move around the instructional area monitoring students


Must possess the ability to observe details at close range required for viewing a computer monitor, preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, and reading


Must possess the ability to perceive sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction; possess the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make discriminations in sound


Must possess the ability to express ideas using the spoken word to convey instructions to students,
