Job Description:

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Commissioning Testing Supervisor in Baltimore, MD. who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic.

 

This position supervises and trains the Field Commissioning/Test Team as well as assists in performing skilled test(s), repair(s) and modification(s) on all electronic / electro-mechanical systems and components found in transit light and heavy rail vehicles. Incumbents work independently and direct their team according to accepted standards of the trade, management direction, company established procedures, practices, and specifications. Incumbents will also provide on-site troubleshooting assessment, response, repair and calibration of revenue vehicles. This class of supervisor works specifically to test, troubleshoot, and repair electro-mechanical / electronic systems and components found on Commissioning vehicles.  

 

Main Tasks & Responsibilities:  

  • Assumes supervisory responsibility for assigned tasks and activities for the Commissioning Site(s). 
  • Ensures that the Commissioning Site(s) is/are run safely, and all required testing is completed efficiently as required and within company and onsite customer policies. 
  • Supervise and participates in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies and priorities for assigned programs; recommends and administers policies and procedures to the test staff workers. 
  • Supervises the work plan for activities and staff; assigns work activities; reviews and evaluates work products, methods and procedures; meets with staff to identify and resolve problems. 
  • Assists Commissioning Manager in refining and coordinating work plans and objectives with the Commissioning Team and outside contractors within company policies, to accommodate required work schedules.  
  • Meets daily with the Commissioning Manager to review and adjust the Commissioning Schedule as necessary. 
  • Follows a pre-established Commissioning schedule. 
  • Assists in training, motivating and evaluating field personnel. 
  • Provides expert professional assistance to the test department staff in the day-to-day operations including Train Control, Traction Power, Power/Mechanical, Communications, Control Systems, Electronics, Rolling Stock and Central Operations and safety for any related site the Test Department may be working at. 
  • Testing and calibration/adjustment of electronic, electronical and mechanical systems found on transit vehicles. Including those associated with propulsion, train control, pneumatic supply and brake control, air conditioning, annunciation, communications, door control, lighting, and auxiliary electrical supply.   
  • Troubleshoots and performs primary performance verification on such systems, removing and replacing components as required to achieve manufacturer specifications.   
  • Records all findings accurately in provided Test Reports, for inclusion into Car History Books that follow each completed vehicle.
