Location: dmg::media Head Office – New York, NY 10003

Salary: $80,000 - $120,000 depending on experience 

Position: Permanent

 

DailyMail.com is seeking an assistant editor on the Opinion/Features desk to join the growing team in our New York City office. This is an in-office position and a 9-hour shift Monday to Friday but applicants must be willing to work flexible hours and shifts as news arises.

 

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: 

• Pitching opinion and feature ideas daily 
• Composing briefs for opinion and feature writers
• Editing under tight deadlines
• Restructuring articles
• Researching article ideas
• Fact-checking drafts of opinion and feature articles
• Legalling articles and working on sourcing with reporters
• Working with photo editors to create images to illustrate articles
• Building articles in a content management system 

 

We are seeking professionals with the following experience: 

• At least 2 years working as an editor at a newspaper, news website, magazine or television news show
• Understanding of the DailyMail.com brand, editorial voice and audience
• Knowledge of online research tools

 

Dailymail.com operates a 24/7 newsroom, and all shifts are expected to be worked from the office. Applicants must be willing to work flexible hours.

PTO: Standard allowance is 15 days plus one day per every year of service capped at 20 days. Public holidays are not included in this allowance. They are in addition.
