The Non-Registered EMG Technologist is responsible for performing nerve conduction studies to evaluate the function of patients’ nerves and muscles. Duties include placing surface electrodes to deliver mild electrical impulses and measuring the resulting nerve and muscle responses. This role may also involve inserting fine needles to record and monitor communication between nerves and muscles, providing critical diagnostic information to support patient care. You will work closely with Neuro-Muscular Neurologists, Spine Physicians, and occasionally Registered Nurses (RNs) to support patient care. You will have the opportunity to collaborate regularly with fellow EMG Technicians to ensure accurate testing, support an efficient workflow, and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care. While prior healthcare experience isn’t required, a strong understanding of anatomy, the ability to multi-task, and a passion for helping patients are essential. 

 

**This is a rewarding position that offers the unique opportunity to travel to different locations each week, with mileage reimbursement provided for travel between sites. Your primary assigned site will be Main Campus; however, travel to other locations will be required. These may include Hillcrest Hospital, Avon Hospital, and additional sites in Willoughby Hills, Strongsville, Middleburg Heights, Wadsworth, and Stow/Cuyahoga Falls. **

 

A caregiver in this position works in a full–time position with flexible start times, including 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., or 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. While occasional Saturday shifts may be requested, they are not mandatory. Typical Saturday hours are from 7:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and are paid as overtime. 

 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

• Perform nerve conduction studies for patients.  

• Assist with instructing other caregivers, residents, physicians and technicians in proper laboratory procedures.  

• Maintain order within the laboratory.  

• Assist with research studies as assigned. 

• Analyze designs and execute additional nerve conduction studies based on initial findings based on initial results and knowledge of peripheral neuroanatomy. 

• Operate the nerve conduction instrumentation and ensure proper adjustments for accurate recording procedures.
