Department Overview
PG&E's Business Finance team provides critical financial support to its operational Business Partners within the company. This support includes financial analysis, budgeting, planning and forecasting, monitoring, controlling and accounting; operational performance reporting and analysis; and strategic planning and analysis. These services are critical to achieving the company's strategic, operational and financial objectives.

Position Summary
The Senior Business Analyst will support Engineering, Planning & Strategy business managers and directors, as well as the Business Finance Extended Leadership team to define and achieve the team's strategic objectives, provide support to help drive decisions to budgets, planning and other finance and accounting needs. You will integrate with the business organization to influence and drive cross team collaboration. You must be a clear and concise communicator with written communication skills, strong analytical and quantitative skills, a background in finance or accounting, poise in working with many levels of staff, strong organizational and planning skills, initiative and enthusiasm, and strong interpersonal skills.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and in-person at the Oakland General Office every Tuesday or based on business needs or company requirements.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed between the entry point and the middle of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $98,000
Bay Area Maximum: $146,000
Job Responsibilities
- Works with department to develop budget (expense, capital, and expenditures), and monitor, forecast and report on budget performance.
- Works with others on the analysis and validation of the in-year plan as well as 3-and 5-year planning results.
- Provides complex forecasts, tracks and improves forecast accuracy.
- Presents findings and makes recommendations to management or others within organization.
- Performs complex quality assurance on data to ensure accurate data is used in reports, and resolve issues as needed.
- Works on moderately complex problems that require in depth analysis and judgment to obtain results or solutions.
- Rate case support - business case development / validation (e.g. run EASOP analysis)
- Assists in developing and tracking metrics that provide data for process measurement, business operations or risk assessment.
- Informal mentorship of analysts and associates
- Communicates (oral and written) recommendations and findings to leaders and officers.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- 3 years of job-related work experience
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience or training
