Position Overview
The Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery is seeking to hire a Security Officer for the Alton Mental Health Center located in Alton, Illinois to provide security to all areas of the Center on an assigned shift. Responds to disturbance calls, conducts fire drills and responds to fire alarms. Searches for missing patients and reports unsafe and hazardous conditions. Responds to other types of emergencies. Secures patients around the hospital and in the community. Assists with investigations of alleged events. Gathers witness statements and evidence. Prepares written reports for the Office of Inspector General (OIG). Escorts and transports patients to different locations. Verifies the safety of patients and staff.
Essential Functions
- Provides security to all areas of the Alton Mental Health Center on an assigned shift.
- Responds to disturbance calls and breaks-up disturbances caused by patients, visitors, or staff.
- Assists law enforcement and other state investigative agency’s/entities/bodies with investigations of alleged events.
- Escorts and transports patients to different locations of the hospital and in the community.
