The Senior Director, Record to Report (R2R) plays a pivotal leadership role within EBS Finance - Accounting Services, overseeing general accounting operations for Walmart U.S., Sam’s Club, and Walmart Canada. This role requires a deep understanding of accounting principles, a passion for continuous improvement, and strong experience managing large, distributed teams. The Senior Director will lead a team of 30 internal associates and manage over 100 outsourced staff, driving operational efficiency and strategic transformation across core accounting processes.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and develop the R2R team of 30+ associates, fostering a high-performance culture.
Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting.
Oversee accounting policies, controls, and procedures to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Drive automation and process improvements to enhance accuracy, scalability, and efficiency.
Manage vendor relationships and outsourced operations, monitoring SLAs and providing performance feedback.
Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure financial data integrity and alignment with broader business goals.
Analyze financial performance and present actionable insights to senior leadership.
Ensure compliance with GAAP, SOX, and other applicable accounting standards and regulations.
Establish governance models, documentation standards, and best practices for process excellence.
What You'll Bring
10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
Proven ability to lead large-scale accounting operations and transformation initiatives.
Expertise in financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and internal controls.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Experience managing vendor relationships and outsourced teams.
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).
Proficiency with enterprise accounting systems; SAP and BlackLine experience a plus.
