Job Description

AECOM is seeking a motivated and experienced leader for our Illinois Transportation business, with a focus on our Surface Transportation practice. This “seller-doer” position will provide leadership and management for business development and project delivery, along with directing and developing our teams.  

The candidate will need to be a growth minded leader who can work collaboratively with others and mentor staff in a fast pace setting to support department and staff performance, project delivery, business development, marketing and communications, capture management, and strategy.  The ideal person must be able to verbally and visually communicate their ideas clearly and convincingly to peers and senior leadership.

The responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to:

  • Help maintain and build a strong and thriving culture in IL Transportation that promotes equity, diversity, & inclusion, sustainability, and innovation; while preserving technical excellence in our core competency.
  • Managing the Roadway Department and supporting the Surface TRA department in IL.
  • Support project delivery and execution, including the management of projects, technical delivery and support for other key projects throughout the region.
  • Lead the capture process for select pursuits in IL and develop and expand client relationships
  • Provide leadership in recruiting and retaining top talent to IL.
  • Collaborate with others in US West Transportation on driving strategic growth initiatives throughout IL and the region.
  • Conducts peer reviews, makes technical presentations, and mentors and develops staff.
  • Collaborate with local leadership across all markets and help organize civic engagement, conferences, and other activities.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS with 8+ years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years experience preferred
  • Experience in leading teams, project management, business development, and strong existing relationships with transportation agencies in IL
  • Existing relationships within the transportation community in IL, and active involvement in local professional organizations
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in IL
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • Experience and connections with IDOT and ISTHA
  • Strong understanding of best practices in capture process for professional services
  • Demonstrated knowledge using Microsoft Office Suite and CRM tools
  • Team-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Ability to communicate problems clearly and simply to clients, leadership, and technical staff
  • Ability to balance various project and company responsibilities and deadlines while maintaining professionalism and quality
  • Alternative delivery experience a plus!
