POSITION TITLE: MAINTENANCE/JANITOR
DEPARTMENT: GREAT FALLS CORPS
STATUS: REGULAR/PART-TIME/NON-EXEMPT
SUPERVISOR: YOUTH CENTER DIRECTOR/BUSINESS ADMINISTRATOR

SCOPE OF POSITION:
Maintain a clean and safe environment at The Salvation Army Great Falls Corps through regular janitorial and maintenance tasks and through safe and detailed set up and tear down of various sports equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
FRONT ENTRY AREA –
- Keep all glass clean.
BATHROOMS –
- Thoroughly clean all toilets, urinals, sinks, mop floors and clean drains
- Clean mirrors and countertops as needed.
- Empty garbage cans, cleaning inside and out if needed.
- Ensure there is soap, paper towels and toilet paper in dispensers.
- Deep clean areas in the building as needed, including scrubbing with detergent, shampooing and disinfecting problem areas. Deep cleaning should be included in the daily schedule every Friday.
- Bathrooms and kitchen should be a priority. A bleach and water solution should be used for bathroom cleaning.
GYM/FLOORS –
- Perform janitorial duties as necessary.
- Sweep, mop, buff and vacuum floors as necessary.
- Gym floor is to be dust mopped and wet toweled daily, wet mopped as needed.
- Complete specific Gym set-ups for various youth and adult leagues per Center Director instructions.
OUTSIDE GROUNDS –
- Snow removal on sidewalks and general walking traffic area as needed
- Normal ground maintenance as required and as directed to include but not limited to lawn maintenance, parking area maintenance, tree and bush maintenance, sweeping sidewalks, etc.
- Keep grounds free of litter, empty all outside garbage cans.
- Responsible for softball field set-up including dragging and lining field for games.
KITCHEN –
- Sweep and wet mop the kitchen floor as needed.
- Clean stove/grill and wipe down all units as needed.
- Clean walk-in cooler and freezer as needed and monitor temperature on daily basis.
GROUP SET-UP –
- Responsible for all room set-ups and tear-down for groups using building.
WALK THRU –
- Conduct daily inspection of entire building for cleaning priorities. Check bathrooms, hallways, kitchen, gym, conference rooms and upstairs classrooms. Walk outside grounds and check for garbage or areas that need attention. After completing walk thru, prioritize and adjust daily schedule.
MISCELLANEOUS MAINTENANCE –
- Ensure all lights are changed as needed, with special attention to exit lights.
- Vacuum all areas including all rooms, offices, hallways and chapel weekly.
- Dust as needed, including windowsills, door jambs, door knobs.
OTHER -
- Make sure all outside doors and gates are locked upon leaving for the day.
- Other duties or activities as may be assigned by Supervisor or Corps Officer.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Six months to one year of previous work experience, preferred.
- After 90 days be able to complete daily duties without supervision.
- Capable of following verbal and written communication in the English language
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Knowledge of janitorial cleaning and procedures
- Able to follow directions and instructions from supervisor, written and verbal.
- Must be able to perform daily tasks.
- Follow all TSA/OSHA safety policies including awareness of safe lifting, use of chemical products, shoveling, etc.
