Preventive Maintenance Mechanic

2nd Shift - 3:00pm-1:00am. The Preventive Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance and repair of the fleet equipment. Equipment includes but is not limited to wheel loaders, excavators, skid steers, forklifts, man lifts, and grinders. The Mechanic should have demonstrable work practices with safety as the number one goal. You will perform appropriate preventive maintenance on equipment and necessary repairs to keep machines up and running daily.

 

Reports To

Shop Manager

 

• Inspect and perform preventive maintenance on a variety of heavy vehicles, equipment, machinery, and facilities
• Perform services, diagnostics, and parts replacement for company fleet
• Aid in the repair and adjustments or replacements on a variety of components and systems such as tires, hoses, and electrical systems
• Identify problems and come up with viable solutions
• Service conveyers and various sorting equipment
• Request and receive parts, equipment, materials, and supplies as needed
• Complete and maintain records of servicing operations such as work orders and daily status reports
• Estimate labor time to complete a job
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Work in a team environment
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Full-time position with overtime opportunities
• Must have own tools (large impact tools will be provided)
• Able and willing to learn computer tracking software
• Able and willing maintain a clean work environment
• ASE certifications and/or vocational/technical training are a plus
• Ability to drive a truck with a manual transmission
• Ability to work in all weather conditions
• Diagnostic and problem-solving skills preferred
• Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
• Previous CDL truck driving experience a plus
• Waste industry experience is a plus
• Experience with routine maintenance operations is required
• Knowledge of Caterpillar, Komatsu, John Deere parts and systems is a plus
• Ability to read electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic schematics
