Senior Software Engineer

We’re seeking an engineer with a long and proven track record of successfully developing and delivering products and micro-services using Java in a Linux environment. This role can be performed on a hybrid basis or fully remote within the Netherlands.<br/>As a Senior Software Engineer in our Public Warning team, you will work on new products and enhance existing products. You will assess new requirements and develop candidate architecture models that incorporate business requirements such as high availability, redundancy and disaster recovery into the design of specific infrastructure components. <br/>This position will expose the candidate to many aspects of telecommunications technology and candidates must therefore demonstrate an attitude and enthusiasm for development of Public Warning solutions in a telco-grade environment. Candidates must be able to demonstrate methodical and logical development skills, combined with the ability to communicate solutions succinctly to other departments<br/>Principle ResponsibilitiesThe Engineer responsibilities cover the following key areas:·         Developing new products and interfaces.·         Enhancing existing products.·         Sustaining &amp; Maintenance activities.·         Testing and documenting activities.<br/><br/><br/> <h3>What you'll do: </h3> <ul> <li>Develop in Java using modern backend technologies within a Micro-services architecture.</li><li>Use modern platform technologies like Docker, Kubernetes and the like.</li><li>Learn and introduce new skills and technologies.</li><li>Write technical product documentation and initiating product improvements.</li><li>Work closely together with the Product Owner to break down Epics and Stories.</li><li>Collaborate across teams and guide adoption of best practices within the team.</li><li>Participate in routine maintenance on existing products to include software deficiency resolution.</li><li>Report with respect to the key activities to the Engineering Manager, Product Owner and/or other colleagues.</li></ul> <h3>What you'll bring: </h3> <ul> <li>Master Degree in Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering or equivalent.</li><li>7+ Years of experience with software engineering using Java / Spring (Boot).</li><li>Experience with Micro-services platforms and tools (Kubernetes, Docker).</li><li>Experience with (no)-SQL Databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, MariaDB, MongoDB).</li><li>Experience with networking and communication protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, HTTP, SSL)</li><li>Experience with Linux environments and security.</li><li>Preferably experience with Kafka.</li><li>Preferably experience with Linux shell scripting and Python.</li><li>Preferably experience with deployment tooling (Ansible, Helm)</li></ul>#LI-HG1<br/>Bridger Culture: <br/>At Everbridge, we have a mission that matters – to keep people safe and businesses running during critical events.
