About the Enterprise Support & Reliability Engineering (ESRE) Team
You will be part of the Enterprise Support and Reliability Engineering – Merchandising group and your primary focus will be on the resilience, operability, stability, and scalability of the Williams-Sonoma family of brands’ merchandising application, RMS, PLM, Just Enough and PIM. You will collaborate with a team of peers to monitor, detect, and investigate issues, correct, and enhance code already in production, deliver features, and facilitate more efficient software business process.
Overview of the Senior Software Engineer, ESRE - Merchandising
As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer at Williams-Sonoma you will support Merchandising production applications as an engineer who solves problems at root cause. You already enjoy solving problems with code, which is why you’re a balanced engineer, at home both in application code written by others, as well as designing your own app from scratch. Your documentation and communication skills are above par, and you have prior experience working in a production support capacity as a application Reliability, Production Operations, similar Engineer.
Responsibilities:
- Support activities for merchandising and inventory management (RMS, ReSA, FlexPLM, PIM) and inventory planning (Just Enough) to deliver the highest level of service to the business within the construct of the managed services agreements, and maintain a sharp and committed focus on continuous improvement and production support.
- Identify technical and functional gaps in applications and have those addressed to minimize systemic issues and to reduce manual work around efforts.
- Define the key operating metrics to measure the health of the applications.
- Develop dashboards for one single view to measure and monitor the system health, track any SLA breaches, and communicate the same.
- Drive high value business tasks from start to closure.
- Partner with the product management and application delivery team to understand the upcoming system enhancements and prepare to accept those changes and support them.
- Closely collaborate with Product Management and Application Delivery teams operate closely as one team to address the business needs.
- Lead the team towards the best practices and facilitate efficient collaboration with other application teams.
- Coordinate with the business and different technical teams involved.
- Perform technical review of changes being made and see to the successful implementation.
- Provide regular updates to the leadership for the task at hand and walk the business through the changes implemented and successful implementation of the same.
- Coach and mentor junior team members for continuous learning.
- On-call twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week for any urgent, escalated application issues based on position in escalation protocol.
Technical And Industry Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of Product and location hierarchy and inventory transactions
- Expert in Oracle Retail Merchandising System and Oracle Retail Sales Audit
- Good understanding of all aspects of Inventory and its integration with upstream/downstream applications
- Expert in writing complex queries and performing data analysis on Merchandising and Inventory data
Criteria:
- BS or MS in Computer Sciences, Engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of Retail Industry related to Merchandising and Planning applications and experience in Oracle Retail Suite of Products (RMS, ReSA) + knowledge of Product Information Management (PIM)
- Expert in Pro*C, C, C++, Shell Scripts, XML, HTML
- Expert in SQL, PL/SQL, Oracle Database, SQL DB, SQL Server, Oracle Apex
- Knowledge in JIRA and Agile processes
- ServiceNow
- Usability of ELK (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) and AppDynamics
- Good to have: Java, J2EE, React Front End, Spring Boot Web Services, RPA tools (preferably UiPath), Kafka, Excel Macros
