The SSC Operational Test and Training Infrastructure (OTTI) organization (SSC/TI) is responsible for integrating and synchronizing the acquisition, development, and sustainment of integrated test and training capabilities for delivery to the United States Space Force (USSF). These advanced systems provide the foundation for High-End Advanced Test, Training, and Tactics Development for all USSF Guardians. The OTTI portfolio includes enterprise systems and services providing interconnected, scalable, and distributed physical and digital ranges for full-spectrum test and training capabilities for the joint warfighter.   

This requisition seeks an experienced and highly motivated candidate to provide technical and programmatic leadership within the OTTI integrated program office to define, develop, and field operational test and training capabilities.  This role is responsible for providing critical support to SSC/TI, including systems engineering, architecting, modeling and simulation, digital engineering, engagements with various customers and users, and acquisition planning and execution. The selected candidate will apply technical expertise to ensure capability needs are translated and applied to acquisition and development efforts, promoting integration of pioneering technology and rapid acquisition efficiencies.   

Work Model: This position is located in Colorado Springs at the 2424 Garden of the Gods facility with local travel to support . Daily onsite presence is expected to work with the customers and staff.   

What You’ll Be Doing 

  • Provide technical leadership in alignment with customer needs in the architecting, acquisition, development, integration, and delivery of test and training capabilities 
  • Collaborate in a multi-disciplinary and multi-organizational environment to identify programmatic, technical, and integration challenges and develop timely and quality solutions  
  • Develop and effectively communicate technical recommendations and solutions to Aerospace and Government leadership 
  • Maintain effective working relationships with Government leadership, contractors, supporting contractors, and engineering matrix reachback personnel 
  • Draft requirements for the acquisition of space electromagnetic spectrum operations (EMSO) systems to interface with the system of systems range architecture including but not limited to the Transportable Range Operations Center (TROC), TROC Network System Prototype (TNSP), Air to Ground Electronic Warfare System (AGEWS) and Joint SATCOM Threat Analysis Testing System (JSTATS) 
  • Assist materiel leaders and government program managers in the planning, execution, and monitoring of contracts to develop, maintain, and operate fixed and mobile test systems that operate across the electromagnetic spectrum 
  • Facilitate meetings with Government, SETA, FFRDC, UARC, and contractor personnel. Identify and reach out to requirement collaborators, elicit requirements from customers, organize requirements into coherent documents, take requirements through a review process for consensus-building and validation, and plan verification approaches for requirements 
  • Review Advanced Space Technology for Range Operations – Electromagnetic (ASTRO-E) Technical Documentation for completion and accuracy, in collaboration with awarded vendors via various Architecture & Requirements working groups and engineering discussions 
  • Identify risks, issues, and opportunities, and recommend courses of action with rationales related to Program Protection Plans and EMSO roadmaps. Coordinate with government personnel to determine current mission gaps and future needs 
  • Build architecture views to communicate technical information to various stakeholders 

What You Need to be Successful - Senior Project Engineer - Systems Engineering - Acquisition and Systems Engineering 

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited university in engineering or related technical subject area  
  • 10 or more years of experience including experience in the acquisition and development of space mission ground/software intensive systems, and/or experience in the development of modeling and sim
